Weekend Staycation

It was a RARE weekend that Terci and I were BOTH FREE. ๐Ÿ˜‰

On Saturday afternoon, we attended a baptism of triplets(!), where Terci was one of the godfathers (this is the second set of triplets, of which he is one of the ninongs). Afterwards, we spent the night at Terci’s grandmother’s house in Ilocos Sur. It’s an old Spanish-style house, filled with antique knickknacks to pique Elmo’s curiosity. The backyard has fruit trees, flowering plants, vegetables and chickens, and is wide enough for Elmo to roam around in and explore. ๐Ÿ˜‰

On Sunday, we woke up early to go to the nearby beach. I prefer this beach to those in Pagudpud because the drop is not steep, the current is not strong and there are not too many people. ๐Ÿ˜Ž I do not even know if it has a proper name; it’s not commercialized and most of the beach-goers are locals themselves.

Elmo was scared of the water, and would cry whenever we tried to put him down to wade. If only he wasn’t so deathly afraid, he looked so cute clinging on to his dad, as if for dear life. I wonder where he got his phobia, since he’s pretty adventurous with the water during bath time. He did enjoy the fine sand though and spent an hour in the shoreline, playing in the sand.

We left the beach shortly after 9 AM, as the Sun was starting to get hot. Back at Grandma’s house, we had merienda. Watched Disney Junior afterwards. Then lunch. Then more Disney Junior. Siesta. Then afternoon merienda… Before hitting the road back home.

It was a lazy and slow day. And we are thankful for this temporary respite from our usual busy schedules. ๐Ÿ™‚
