Learned from Caroline Moore’s blog that Fox is bringing back The X-Files for a limited 6-episode run. (I’ve been visiting Caroline’s site for her XF posters, not realizing–until recently–that she is the creative talent behind my current Sobe theme. 😉 ).
This comes as
great good great good news. I’ve been a fan of the series since college, when I became roommates with Jody, a HUGE X-Files fan, who patiently explained the mythology to me and indoctrinated me into the ways of the show. We looked forward to a new episode every Monday night (local showing time), watched and re-watched our favorite episodes, read transcripts and fanfics, conceptualized music videos (in our heads!), made our own photo collages, devoured whatever XF news and gossip there was, and fervently hoped for Mulder & Scully to end up together (I think they were the first onscreen couple I ever *shipped* on).
This was during Seasons 4-6, which IMO were the best: the mythology was getting to be more revealing and exciting, there were more shipper episodes(!) and Scully had the best hair. But then David D. got involved in a legal battle with the network and his appearances started to dwindle, life got busier, and I started watching less and less. 😮
Nevertheless, The X-Files will always have a special place in my heart. It brings back a lot of memories of college days, when we were excited for Mondays (if only because of a new X-Files episode), when we had all the time in the world for viewing marathons, when we concerned ourselves more with X-Files trivia and gossip rather than bills and taxes, when life was more carefree. 🙂
